  • Court Case:   Court cases are appeals within the court of the decision.   Superior Court is responsible for handling cases involving serious crimes (felonies), civil disputes, real estate matters and family and domestic relations issues.  State Court handles civil law actions not otherwise within the jurisdiction of Superior Court, dispossessions, misdemeanors, and certain traffic offenses.  Magistrate Court (Civil Division) hears cases involving civil claims of $15,000 or less.  Probate Court has exclusive jurisdiction in probate of wills, administration of estates, appointment of guardians, involuntary hospitalizations, issuance of pistol licenses and marriage licenses.   Residents are encouraged to work with an attorney in filing an appeal within the appropriate court.   Here is a Guide to Filing An Appeal in Court

  • Tax Assessment:   When you receive the Annual Assessment Notice from our office at the end of May, you will have 45 days to appeal if you do not agree with the Current Year Value displayed.   You may simply write a letter telling us that you are appealing, and if possible, explain why you disagree with our value. Check the Tax Assessors Page for more information on how to file the appeal.

  • Traffic Ticket:  Tickets are handled in Probate Court.
